Create a pre-start checklist to make the transition smooth: provide access to systems and workspace, order uniforms and name badge, ensure new hire paperwork is in order (high priority: do what it takes to make sure they will get paid!), order some company/property swag as a welcome gift, set them up in required training modules, and assign a mentor.
